  • Dissolve nutrients and minerals to make them accessible to the body


Hydration Tips


  • Carry a water bottle for easy access
  • For short duration (less than 60 minutes low to moderate intensity activity, drink water before, during, and after exercise
  • If extreme heat or more than one hour, supplement water with a sports drink containing electrolytes and 6-8% carbohydrates
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Eat at least 5 cups fruits and vegetables per day; all contain water and potassium
  • Consider replacing fluid and sodium with vegetable juices or soup
  • Jazz up your water with a wedge of lemon or lime
  • Choose water instead of other beverages when eating out to save money and calories
